If you read my journal regularly and I haven’t either given you access on DW or friended you on LJ, let me know. I’m going to start trying to remember to lock more personal information about Cordelia. She would rather I just never mention her, but I’m not willing to do that when she’s such an important part of my life. This journal is for my own future self as much as it’s for other people, probably more. Also, it helps a lot to hear from other people that what she and I are dealing with is stuff other people have dealt with and survived.

I may end up making a Cordelia filter so that people can opt in, but right now (and for the next few weeks, probably), I really don’t feel like I can handle thinking that much.

Kids don't like their personal lives plastered all over the internet (unless they are doing the plastering.) I rarely post anything about my kid's personal lives and if I do I try to keep it as vague as possible.

My suggestion.... is go back and friend lock all your past posts about Cordelia. You would hate to have her get upset about your lj.

My main hesitation in going back and locking everything about Cordelia is that that would mean taking everything friends only. Pretty much everything I post has at least a paragraph about her. I thought about trying to go back and move those paragraphs into back dated and friends locked posts, but the sheer scale intimidates me.

I think that, for the moment, I'm going to put the question aside. Everything that's currently going on is kind of wrecking me, and that makes it a very poor time to try to think about what course is best.

I hear you. I worry that anything on the Internet could end up public, and so I try (with varying success) to not post anything about my teens, especially not anything that they would object to. I don't even post it in a private friends-only space. Sometimes I really want to talk to people about a teen-related issue that I'm wrestling with, and sometimes I do write about it even though my goal is not to, but mostly there's a lot that I wish I was posting but I don't.

Anyway, that's what works for me. Your mileage and Cordelia's, as they say, may vary.
