May. 9th, 2016 03:27 pmI’m at home. I’m still feeling pretty rotten. Mostly this is because last night’s headache bloomed into a full migraine with nausea so bad that I didn’t drink anything, not the clean out solution and not water, after about 2 a.m. because even a small sip turned my stomach so badly.
On the up side, I was able to get about an hour and half of sleep. On the down side, I was so dehydrated by the time we got to the hospital that it took multiple sticks to get the IV established (in my wrist), and even then, I had to hold my hand at an awkward angle or the flow from the IV cut off.
The migraine was about an 8 when we got to the hospital and when I woke after the procedure, and I’m odor sensitive more than sound or light sensitive. I hadn’t been able to take anything for it because Zofran and Amerge don’t play nice together. By the time I was out of the eight hour range of the Zofran, I was hours past when I was allowed to take medications. Taking an Amerge on getting home and lying down for about an hour has worked wonders.
I’m still having nausea issues, just milder ones. Some, now passed, were from the migraine, but a lot of it was trapped air from the endoscopy. My throat is raw enough, too, that my body is reading that as evidence that I’m having massive reflux and am at risk of more trouble.
I’ve had some instant oatmeal and some toast. Scott bought applesauce when he did the grocery shopping, but he got cinnamon applesauce and appleberry. I tried the appleberry, but it was way, way too acidic. I’m not sure what Scott has against plain, unsweetened applesauce. I would like to eat something more challenging (and nutritious), but I’m not sure I’m going to get to today. I’m rather envious of the soup that Scott got after his colonoscopy.
I was really out of it when the nurse was going over the findings with me, so I need to find the printed report and look it over now that I can focus my eyes again.
Found it on the kitchen table— The endoscopy sounds completely fine. I think it’s possible that the hiatal hernia is bigger than it was, but I can’t remember how big it was last time, and the report doesn’t say. The colonoscopy found a couple of polyps and 'an area of mildly congested mucosa,' which, as far as I can tell, means that some bit was a little swollen. The notes say that that sample is going for histology. Everything else looked normal. They took some random biopsies, too, twelve of them from various places.
Oh, and I got an explanation from my gastroenterologist for the extra intensive prep— She was under the impression that I suffer from chronic constipation. I don’t, quite the opposite. I have no idea how she got that idea.

Date: 2016-05-17 11:23 pm (UTC)The printout they gave me afterwards listed the reasons for the colonoscopy and included 'loose stools' in the list, so I really have no idea what she was thinking given that that was part of her diagnosis for why I needed the dratted thing.
