I can tell that I ignored the dishes for way too long. I ended up with half a dozen things that simply would not fit, small things, too, not big ones. I might have been able to wedge a couple of things in that I didn’t find until after I started the dishwasher, but I had started the dishwasher. More likely, I’d have swapped something out. The three plates that were hidden by the pressure cooker lid are actually more important than the wide, nearly flat plastic storage container.

Cordelia is officially done with PT unless the orthopedist comes up with something that the therapist doesn’t expect. She did say that Cordelia’s going to want to make sure she stays in shape because her joints are just a little hypermobile (there’s a tendency to that in my family. It’s not a huge deal. For me, it mostly means I don’t bowl because it wrecks my elbows).

I’m still dithering about the WIP Big Bang. There’s a deadline this weekend that I could manage, but I don’t know if I should. They want the complete rough draft by June 19th which might be something I could manage and might not be. I’m thinking now that the thing I’ve mostly been working on the last few months isn’t finishable in the time I’ve got. I might manage a draft if nothing else came up, but it would be kind of skeletal and would require massive expansion to fit in what’s needed to make it make sense to a not-me reader.

The story I signed up with might be more manageable if I can get myself to pick it up again. I’m poking at a bit of character development and trying to decide what to do with it. It’s a Narnia darkfic in which Jadis captures all four Pevensies (and not because of Edmund). I know what she’s doing with Peter and Susan. She’s paying more attention to them than to Edmund and Lucy because she thinks that reshaping them will be more challenging. Lucy’s getting some attention, too, because she’s making trouble. I kind of picture Edmund keeping his head down and trying to blend into the background, but Jadis would have him doing something. I just don’t know what— Learning sword fighting from some of her humanoid minions, maybe? Studying… I’m not sure what.

I have decided that no one in Narnia ages or dies unless Jadis permits it. Nobody’s born either, and nobody who gets hurt heals unless Jadis intervenes. On the other hand, nobody needs to eat. They can if they have access to food, but they don’t need to, and, if they don’t, they won’t need to eliminate, either. This means that the kids will remain kids, physically, unless Jadis thinks they’ll be more interesting or useful when they’re physically older. They won’t remain children psychologically which interests her more than any physical growth. (Touching other people, skin to skin, is horribly unpleasant for her. If it weren’t for that, she might be interested in the boys once they grew to be men and if they were acting like they were interested.) Then again, if Edmund’s trying to learn physical things, growing while he does so might help him along considerably. I’m not sure about a nine year old’s ability to master a sword if his body’s not allowed to change.

That sounds pretty interesting about your Narnia rules. That would be a weird situation too. After time, Edmund would be "older" than Peter and the dynamic would change in some degree. That could be something that she might want to explore that wouldn't require her to pay overmuch attention to Edmund -- put him to learning swordsmanship and him actively trying to stay out of the way.
