May. 22nd, 2016 11:12 amLast night, just as I was preparing to head for bed, I got an email from Discover letting me know that what I owed on the card hadn’t been paid at the beginning of the month. I was appalled by the amount they cited (it turned out to be correct because the bill covered a different period than I had assumed and so included the really, really expensive part of March which I had thought had already been paid for). Scott was appalled because he couldn’t figure out how he had failed to pay the bill. We had to scurry around a bit online in order to get into the Discover Card website because Scott had forgotten the password (and the one I had was out of date. Apparently I need to remind him periodically to update me on that).
At any rate, we have set up a payment transfer from our bank, but it means that Scott’s optimism about us having more money than he expected was misplaced. This payment puts us more in line with where he originally thought we’d be.
But, seriously, what’s with Discover sending a message like that at 11:03 on a Saturday night when they aren’t open to take calls about it or to accept payments in between 4:30 Saturday afternoon and 8:00 Monday morning?
The mystery noise is back this morning. I think it had mainly seemed to be gone because I had the ceiling fan running and that drowned it out. I had Cordelia sit next to me, and she still couldn’t hear it, so I really don’t know. It sounds further away than my laptop is, and that’s the only thing near where I sit that’s likely to make noise. Maybe tomorrow afternoon I’ll try shutting down the laptop and seeing if that makes the noise go away. I don’t think that today will be great for that because of the noise from having Scott and Cordelia around.
I finally got a taker on the Girl Scout book. We haven’t arranged a pick up time yet, but she said she wanted to get it today.
The first folks I asked about the games said no, largely because they are either in the process of moving or have just gotten everything to their new house (I can’t remember the exact timing from when they told us their plans).
I ate some lunchmeat and cheese yesterday and, so far at least, have had no ill effects from them. Maybe tomorrow I’ll dare some vegetables. I just keep looking at what we’ve got in that direction and feeling sick (Scott steamed broccoli last night. That was very, very unpleasant. Usually I like broccoli, but right now, I just can’t deal with it). I think I need something very mild. I’ve got a can of collard greens. Maybe those will work. I won’t know until I smell them. I’m kind of puzzled by having such a visceral reaction to vegetables when I’m still very much wanting fruit even though I can connect fruit directly to problems later on.
I really want more sleep, but Scott and I both woke about 8:00, and neither of us could get back to sleep. For me, part of it was a headache (helped by food and caffeine), and part of it was temperature. It was too cold for just the sheet but too warm for the sheet and the blanket. Maybe in an hour or two, I’ll be able to nap. I don’t know. There’s other stuff to do today.
We need to go to the library at some point this afternoon, but I’m wanting to delay that— I’m first on the waitlist for Deadpool, and a copy was due yesterday. It’s also likely that other copies will be returned today. Not that waiting another week would be terrible; none of us are desperate to see the movie. It’s more something that we’re kind of vaguely interested in. I just want to delay so that we don’t have to go downtown for it in the middle of the week. The waitlist is long enough that I do not want to start over at the bottom.
