Writing is not going well. Last week, what with one thing and another, I lacked spoons for it. I had time but not energy. This week, I keep looking at the open document and becoming suddenly fascinated by other things. Some of that is that I know I need to cut about two thirds of what I wrote last month. It's aiming toward something that I now know isn't going to happen because I realized that, no matter what the rationale, the character in question simply wouldn't do that.

I managed to write a little last night, longhand, by taking a notebook with me to Delia's basketball practice. I had trouble focusing, but I had nothing else to do, so I wrote. There's another practice tonight. I plan to take the notebook again and see if I can write more.

I think the only thing to do with this section is to power through it. It's got such a weight of expectation and negative emotion that there's no way I'm going to enjoy writing it. I need this section for the chapter to be complete. This is all I need to finish it. Then I can start on the rewrite which will be relatively extensive, at least in some sections. I still have to figure out how to fit in physical descriptions of the two characters I'm introducing. I don't think about what things look like very much, so it's a real challenge to work visuals into the flow of the text.

(And yes, I'm writing journal entries rather than writing fic. I'll get to the fic soon. Really. Probably.)

Hope you're able to write more at the basketball practices. That's a good time to do it.

I am so easily distracted at home; I just cannot do anything there!
