Jun. 10th, 2016 09:30 pmSomehow or another, the dehumidifier in the basement froze solid. I went down and noticed a trickle of a leak spreading across the floor. When Scott took a look, he discovered that the thing was full and frozen solid. We're assuming the drainage hose got blocked somehow, but the frozen solid part is surprising. The thing is designed to fill and have the receptacle pulled out every so many hours and emptied. We jury rigged a drainage hose several years ago because it fills in less than twenty four hours and because I can't lift the stupid thing when it's full.
Scott really would like to reschedule his golf date with his father. Tomorrow's weather is forecast to be really, really terrible-- high wind, thunderstorms, and temperatures above 90F. A great combination. Scott's not willing to be the one to suggest it, however, because he doesn't want to disappoint his father. Sunday is forecast to be better weather-wise, but they couldn't go in the morning then because Scott's parents go to church.
Golf on Sunday would let Scott return the cable equipment and would let me do something online tomorrow noonish. It would also mean that we'd have an extra day to sort stuff for the yard sale and put prices on it all. I think that's what Scott's mother has in mind for me and her and Cordelia to do while the guys golf, but I'd like to consult Scott on some things. Having Scott in on pricing things means I won't accidentally sell something that he wants to keep. (He's already decided that any VHS tape without a box is getting thrown out. I don't agree, but I'm not sure that half a dozen tapes for pre-schoolers are worth arguing about. If I understand correctly, he doesn't think anyone will bother to look at them to see what they are if there's not a box that gives the title.) Scott was a little worried at the prospect of getting rid of the Cinderella VHS tape because he remembered his mother giving all of her granddaughters Cinderella one Christmas. I pointed out that that was the DVD. I bought the VHS version in the 1990s.
The only VHS tapes we've got that might be worth the trouble of trying to sell them are the two boxed sets of the complete Monty Python's Flying Circus. Scott's got the complete series on DVD, so keeping the VHS makes no sense, and the boxed sets seem to be going for about $20 each on Amazon and Ebay. Scott has sold things on Ebay before and is willing to do the work for these.

Scott's theory is that it simply didn't drain right. That's definitely part of it, but I don't think it's the whole story.
