I had about twenty unlabeled CD-Rs and CD-RWs. One proved impossible for my laptop to read. Two were Linux systems more than ten years old. Two were backups of my laptop from 2003. Those five all went in the trash. One CD-R had a copy of the video with my grandmother, my mother, and my uncle (and a bunch of relatives who I have no idea who they are) from around 1950. I’m keeping that one. All the rest were blank.

I found several CDs that go with books we got rid of years ago. I’m not sure if anyone will want them without the books. I suppose it’s possible, but… Reading along is the point. I remember that I kept those books for quite a while because I wanted to find the CDs. I’m not sure why I didn’t look in the study on the rack for CDs except that I didn’t really expect anything of Cordelia’s to be there. (And we still have a couple of dozen CDs that were Cordelia’s and that are missing. Goodness knows where they are.)

I threw out a bunch of VHS tapes. I probably should have checked to make sure they really were what the labels said, but… I kept the video of the ultrasound from when I was pregnant with Cordelia (she was vastly unimpressed by it) and the recordings from when The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne aired on, as it was then, the Sci-Fi Channel. I also put aside four tapes that are things I think Scott might want to keep.

I think that putting the CDs in order is going to take me a long, long time because I can’t get up and down easily. (I crouched for about ten minutes this afternoon and then had a lot of trouble getting back up. I was afraid I wouldn't manage it.) All the unsorted CDs are on the bottom of the rack, about three shelves worth. There’s one empty shelf and one shelf that still has a few VHS tapes. The alphabetized CDs take up three shelves. The most efficient thing would be to take the unsorted CDs out to the living room and alphabetize them there. Then I can shelve more efficiently and have a good idea of what needs shifting and when. That’s low priority right now, however.

Okay, time to take out the trash. I’m doing that and making Scott’s lunch for tomorrow so that he can take the girls to the movie at 8:00 and still, hopefully, get to bed by 11:00.

What a busy day! You're making me tired just reading about it.

I've only just thrown out the (nearly) last of our videos, the Blakes 7 ones I bought in the first flush of fandom were hard because of the nostalgia...

I say nearly because there's a couple I'm going to see about transferring to DVD, I can't get them otherwise.
