Scott and Cordelia didn’t get home until after 11:30 last night. Scott was pleased, though, because the girls actually discussed the ethics of the movie with each other and with him and recognized that it’s complicated.

[livejournal.com profile] evalerie came by briefly yesterday morning to let me look at the three kindles she’s wanting to get rid of. I ended up with one, and Cordelia ended up with one. The third is going to the mother of a friend of [livejournal.com profile] evalerie. We pretty much decided which one that should be by which of the three was easiest to use in terms of the controls being obvious. Cordelia and I are both going to have to figure things out by experimentation.

[livejournal.com profile] evalerie gave me and Cordelia a ride to central campus. Cordelia had a dentist appointment at 1:00, and I wanted us to get lunch before that. Cordelia and I ate at the Brown Jug. I had a burger, and she had French toast. She actually finished everything on her plate which surprised me a lot. I was thinking we’d hang out there until about 12:30, but Cordelia was getting cold from the air conditioning (I thought it was nice), so we walked to the dentist’s office which is about two and a half blocks away. They were glad to see us early as they had had a lot of cancellations and were trying to get everyone else in as early as possible. I called for a cab to take us home right about when Cordelia was scheduled to be seen.

Scott’s parents are expecting us to drive Cordelia up there this evening. I’m not pleased about it because the trip is an hour each way in light traffic and the traffic on the way up will not be light, given the time. Scott’s not likely to get out of work before 4:00. Then it’s half an hour to forty five for him to get home (depending on traffic). Then he has to shower and change. I might be able to load the car while he does that, but I’m not sure.

I have weeded and alphabetized all of our CDs. There are a number of things that I would get rid of, but either they’re definitely Scott’s or they might be, so I thought I’d better leave them. I don’t know that any of us are likely to listen to The Planets or Scheherazade, but keeping those CDs can’t hurt as we’ve still got space on the shelf.

I just found an unlabeled CD-R with photos and video that Scott put together when Cordelia was just a few months old (the menu says 0-3 months). I’m really enjoying looking at that. I think that Cordelia would be embarrassed and that most people would be bored, but this is my baby girl. The video is pretty much just her flailing with arms and legs because, well, three months is pretty darned tiny. There are a lot of pictures of my family meeting her for the first time. I think Scott made this for them because they’re all so far away and not able to visit often. If he made it for his family, too, I’d expect more pictures of them. Most of his local family came to visit in the first twenty four hours, before we even left the hospital. His father didn’t because he was out of town that day, but he came down as soon as he got back to Michigan. This CD doesn’t have any pictures from those visits, just a handful from a month or so later.

Okay, the plan now is to shower and then work in the basement a bit. I’m going to ask Cordelia to put away silverware and bring in the trash bins (assuming they’re empty. They should be by this time of day, but they didn’t pick up the compost last week, so I don’t know). I think that pricing things for the yard sale won’t take more than ten minutes and so can be put off. Most of the stuff is going in boxes that will say '4 for $1' and so doesn’t need labeling. It’s possible that some of it would sell for more or should be bundled into sets, but I don’t want to fuss with it.

So cool to find the CD-R of Cordelia at a few months old! I marvel at how tiny babies at that age are - they're so precious!

You've been super productive about organizing your house - it's very inspiring as I need to do the same. I made some progress last night; hoping to do more today.

I will probably post my U2 program on eBay, though I've never sold before. While I'm at it I might post my husband's shoes if it seems worth it. I posted the program on craigslist, but there doesn't seem to be much traffic for that kind of thing there, so I expect I'll have better luck on eBay.

I'm ripping a lot of CDs onto a hard drive and then giving them to the local Book Fair... one of my small efforts towards Getting Rid of the Threat of Becoming A Manic Hoarder In My Old Age
