Jul. 10th, 2016 12:34 pmI forgot to mention that I went for a bit of a walk Friday evening. I finished dinner and went out to walk to the church to hack the portal there. When I got to the bottom of the hill, I thought I could walk a little more, maybe just to the map at the nature center which is also a portal. Once there, I was so very close to the portals in the parking lot that I went on, and, having climbed the hill going to the other portals seemed to make sense because the hill is the hard part. It had been raining, so I got a bit wet when I went into the woods. A couple of times, I thought that it had actually started raining again, but it was only the wind making the leaves dump water on me.
Scott and I went for an Ingress walk last night, too. That was much later in the evening, so it was actually dark, and although we were early enough that the nature center was still technically open, I was pretty sure that going there without flashlights (or even with) would be an invitation to another turned ankle. We went down the hill, past the nearest church, and then turned in the opposite direction from the way to the nature center to go to another church that’s a portal. There isn’t sidewalk along that bit, so we were in the street which worried both of us a bit even though the traffic along there is generally zero. We were wearing light colored clothing, though, and staying very close to the side of the road. After the second church, we headed towards the portals near Cordelia’s school. There were sidewalks at that point. Scott suggested going around the school to get home, but I thought the longer route was better because it has sidewalks while the route around the school doesn’t.
Scott is close enough to leveling up in Ingress that he really only needs about an hour of walking around downtown or on central campus to get the points he needs. I don’t know if we’ll have a chance to do that or if he’ll just nickel and dime things until he gets there.
I talked to my mother for a while last night. Their house still isn’t ready for visitors as they still don’t have the upstairs bathroom ready for putting in a shower. I’m not clear if they’re bathing at a friend’s house or if they have a bathtub somewhere in the place. Either way, they’re not quite ready to have visitors. They had originally thought that the bathroom would only take them two or three weeks, but they keep finding new disasters in there. Mom said something about several layers of latex paint over oil based paint without proper surface preparation, and she mentioned that my step-father is re-plastering the ceiling. I also got the very definite impression that they don’t have air conditioning which may be a deal breaker for me and Cordelia spending much time there. Me because I really can’t tolerate heat while taking tamoxifen and Cordelia because she’s never spent time somewhere without air conditioning and ceiling fans.
I managed to write about 150 words last night right before bed. It was even on the Narnia fic, so go, me. I just have to manage to keep moving on it today. Scott is hoping to go to a board game thing this afternoon, but it started half an hour ago, and he’s only just gotten into the shower, so I don’t know if he’ll make it. Well, it runs until 4:00, so it’s still possible.
