Okay, I’ve cleaned most of the fridge door. I threw out about 2/3 of what was on the upper shelves there. Some of it dated back to before Cordelia started school (so more than eight years old). There are a couple of things I threw out that might have been edible, maybe, but I really didn’t want to fuss with it. Some of the shelves had sticky and/or crusty stuff on them. Fortunately, most of them are removable, so I could take them to sink and wash them, soaking when necessary.

Interestingly, everything on the very bottom shelf was recent stuff that we actually use. There was one bottle of barbecue sauce that I wasn’t sure about, but Scott uses a lot of different barbecue sauces, so it might actually be less than a year old. I’m not sure what to do about the omega-3 fish oil capsules I found in there— They expired in 2010, so I don’t think Scott should take them, but…. Goodness knows how much he paid for them. Well, more likely, it’s how much his parents paid but still. I wonder if Scott will even notice if I throw them out?

My shirt ended up wet enough that I had to change it. The next step is taking out the trash and the recycling. I’m resting a bit before I do that and trying to cool off. I’m just not prepared to make Cordelia help until after I feel less sweaty and have had a good bit of water.

I’ve also put potatoes in the pressure cooker. Those will be done in about half an hour (mostly time for the pressure to release slowly). A five pound bag of potatoes is generally under $3, and that’s 12-15 potatoes. The pressure cooker can cook all of them at once without heating the house the way having them in the oven would. They keep well in the refrigerator. I can make a meal of a potato with a little cheese or a little shredded pork. Adding green beans or peas to the mix works well, too.
