I think I’m going to have to work out a different routine for sleeping in the mornings. Scott’s alarm goes off at 5:00. He gets up and does this and that and then naps on the couch until 6:00 when his phone alarm goes off. I used to be able to sleep through that nine times out of ten, but Scott made two recent changes that alter that. First, he’s now keeping his phone in the living room instead of the dining room. Second he’s change the alarm ring tone to something much, much louder than the old one.
This combination pretty much means that I’m awake most of the time between 5:00 and 6:00 and then awake again at 6:00 for however long it takes me to get back to sleep which can be upwards of an hour. Then, if I do sleep, I end up sleeping later than I would prefer (mostly to make up for losing two hours in the middle of my sleeping time).
Between 5:00 and 7:00, I seem to have a natural tendency to wake up completely anyway. I can get past it if I get back to sleep promptly, but if I don’t, I’m likely to be awake for quite a long time. At this point, I’m thinking that, after Scott leaves the bedroom, I should close the door and either work on my laptop or read a book until I feel ready to sleep again. I’ll probably need to change around my medication schedule a little and take my first dose of Wellbutrin before I lie down again so as not to end up with the two doses less than three hours apart. (Wellbutrin doesn’t keep me awake. Provigil doesn’t keep me awake. Caffeine doesn’t keep me awake. All three together don’t, either.)
Yesterday evening, the mayor was going door to door in our neighborhood to urge people to vote for a particular candidate (the environmental activist). This actually makes me rather more disinclined to vote for the guy because I’m not particularly in favor of the mayor’s policies with regard to downtown development and how to spend money there.
We had our full gaming group last night for the first time in forever.
booniverse ran her Stargate game. I ended up feeling pretty useless for most of the session because my character is an anthropologist with (really weirdly) no wilderness survival skills or mechanical/engineering skills and we were stuck in the middle of a swamp after a crash landing. We needed to try to repair our vehicle, and we needed to try to reach another downed vehicle to help someone who was injured.
In the last fifteen minutes of the session, we happened on something that my character can do something useful with— signs of non-human, intelligent life. I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes.
Okay, it’s 8:30. I think I’m going to lie down again and see if I can sleep now.
