Jul. 18th, 2016 11:41 amWe got to Scott’s parents’ place a bit after 3:00. It was very windy, so nobody went out on the boat. That meant that I didn’t do any writing. There were just too many people around. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to write during the day this week because Cordelia wants to watch movies in the living room. Usually, she prefers to do that in her bedroom but not right now.
Our nephew is in Germany until Thursday on a three week trip through his school. Scott’s parents are leaving for England soon. I wasn’t clear if they were going this week or next. I think they have some sort of short trip in the latter half of this week and then go overseas next week, but I might have misunderstood. They’re having a lot of trouble understanding the difference between phone services (not available to them overseas) and internet services (available in places with wifi) because it’s all on their phones. I think that the four of us a generation younger spent about an hour trying to explain.
They’re also having problems with having gotten new phones and suddenly starting to use something like three times the data that they used to without changing what they were doing. They’re not streaming video, so it’s weird to think that their usage (home and phone on the same plan) would go over six gb, but they’re going far over. Their household internet is password protected, and it’s not a terrible password— more than eight characters and a combination of letters and numbers with no words or dates or such.
I had four DVDs waiting at the library yesterday. I remember putting holds on all of them, but I don’t think I had counted to see how many were coming. I had four single CDs (one of which I think I might have checked out before) and one CD set that I didn’t expect to be a set. I may not listen to the whole set because I’ve been kind of eh on the group’s other CDs.
I had trouble sleeping last night. My breast hurt, and I felt too warm. I think, too, that I need a new pillow. Right now, I have a choice between one that’s too thick and makes my neck hurt (I keep that because it’s useful when I have a cold or have reflux) and one that’s gradually ended up in a weird, lumpy mess that I can’t flatten out, no matter what I do. It’s still the right thickness in places, but the part that’s usable is pretty small. If I lie flat on my back, I don’t absolutely need a pillow, not on our bed, but when I turn on my side, I do need one.
Neither Scott nor Cordelia can eat the pulled pork we made last week. Well, Cordelia doesn’t like it, so she could, in theory, still eat it. Scott, on the other hand, had intestinal difficulties after eating it. He suspects there’s something in the spices in the sauce we used. I’m not hugely enthusiastic about the stuff because it’s a tiny bit spicier than I like, but I can eat it, so I expect I’ll be eating that for about the next three weeks. I probably need to put more of it in the freezer and to try to come up with ways to vary it enough that I can eat it twice a day.
Somehow, the number of emails I need to answer tripled. I’m not sure I’m ready to deal with any of them at the moment. I think I’m going to set aside an hour this afternoon for that, though, because I don’t want to get farther behind and some of them ought to be quick if I can just make myself do it.
