Jul. 19th, 2016 05:38 pmI’ve got 6300 words on the WIP Big Bang story. The minimum length is 7500 words, so I’m close. Kind of. I know what the next scene will involve, but I don’t think that will give me the word count I need, and I have no idea what comes after, not unless I change to another POV character which I’d rather save for another story in the arc. I’ve addressed Jadis’s interaction with three of the four children, so maybe I could deal with the fourth, but… I’m not sure it would take more than a paragraph or two, and it doesn’t fit into the scene I’ve got planned. I don’t want to make up another scene just to try to wedge the information in and get extra words.
I think there are some things I ought to add to the early sections if I can figure out how, just some hints of backstory that I don’t plan to go into detail on in this story.
Anybody up for beta reading a Narnia darkfic? There’s no sex, but there is violence, both physical and psychological, aimed at children. It’s the villain’s point of view. I’m not sure if it crosses over into needing warnings for suicidal impulses, but it might, and I will probably tag for that when I finally post just to be safe.

Date: 2016-07-20 12:28 am (UTC)I think it's a good story that's going to work, but... When I post it, I'm going to plaster warnings all over it so that people know what they're getting.

Date: 2016-07-23 10:18 pm (UTC)I don't think that inexperience is that big a deal. The only way to learn is by doing it. The rules for writing fiction are a bit different than the rules for writing essays, but they're pretty close.
I've got what I've written so far in Gdocs and on an access locked DW account that I use for unfinished fiction. I've been writing in TextEdit and can email files in that format or in Pages. In my experience, Word can open both types of files, but LibreOffice can't read TextEdit files without stripping out all paragraph/line breaks.
PM me to let me know what method you'd like to use. I'm not done with the story, but I think that getting someone to look at what's done right now is a better idea than waiting until the last minute and throwing it all at you at once.
