Jul. 21st, 2016 01:07 pmI’ve mostly sorted the bin in the living room. Most of what’s left is crayons, pens, markers, and dust bunnies. I ended up dumping some of the stuff into bags, though, so I’m not sure that counts. One bag is stuff relating to Cordelia— report cards, certificates, art work, etc.— that she’s not interested in keeping but that we are. We don’t, however, have a place set aside for storing that stuff, and there’s a heck of a lot of it. The other bag is stuff that I can’t identify or that I know we want to keep but have no idea where to put. A good chunk of the latter category is paperwork. I hesitate to try to file it because Scott’s very particular about his system of filing. I probably could figure it out, but I’d rather let him file stuff. I’m pretty sure that some of the cords and such that I dumped in that bag are trash, but I have no clue at all what they might go to.
I found four wallet sized pictures of Cordelia, all at least seven years old. I found one relatively recent photograph of one of our Seattle nieces that I suspect fell off of the fridge. I’ve got five tiny knick-knacks that I have to find places for. They were on top of the entertainment center, and I suppose I can put them back, but they’re all small enough that they’re hard to see that high up.
Sorting junk while sitting on the couch works much, much better than doing it while bent over or sitting on the floor. I’m tempted to pull stuff from the basement to work on in the living room. All of that stuff is bound for donation or the trash, so it would have to come up the stairs anyway. I’m not sure I can carry a bin upstairs, but our cleaning lady will be here this afternoon, so I can ask her (or wait and have Scott do it).
It’s itching at me that I haven’t alphabetized the anime or the TV show DVDs, but really, I can’t. They’re spread across fifteen different shelves and four drawers of varying size, and the old, large boxed sets make spacing problematic. Thin pack sets aren’t as bad, but we’ve got a lot of large boxed sets, and something like the complete Farscape is still pretty large even when thin packed. I suppose I could ditch the boxes on the old sets, but… I’m not willing to do that.
Okay. I need to come up with something for lunch. I had pulled pork for breakfast, so I’m not really interested in it now. Maybe a salad…?
