Okay, this trouble sleeping thing has got to go. I’m trying to decide if this has reached the point where I need to talk to someone. I’m not sure what that point is except that I’m feeling physically pretty crappy by now. I don’t even have an actual reason for having slept badly last night. I just couldn’t get back to sleep after Scott got up at 5:00. It’s something that happens sometimes. It just normally doesn’t happen as part of a run of several bad nights.

I ended up getting up for a few hours and then lying down again. I avoided drinking anything and only ate a piece of plain bread. I showered, too, because I needed to. I’d probably still be in bed, but we’re expecting one of Cordelia’s friends to arrive some time in the next half hour. I thought it would be better if I was up and dressed when she gets here. I don’t know if she’s taking the bus or if her mother has a car at the moment and will be driving. (Their family has one car. Both parents take the bus to and from work most of the time. The mother only learned to drive last year.)

At any rate, I’ve had coffee and a turkey burger. Those are helping the tired headache, but good heavens, I’d rather have a few hours of solid sleep.

We got the errands taken care of yesterday in pretty good time. The PTO Thrift Shop had a sign out, saying they weren’t taking furniture, but when they saw the shelf they took it immediately. I’m pretty sure they were thinking more about large pieces than about something less than three feet wide. Scott also thinks that they’ll use it to hold some other things they’re selling. I’m not so sure because I’d expect it to sell fairly quickly and then they’d have to move all of that stuff.

We captured a bunch of portals by the library and lost them within about three minutes and then took them back again. I’m sure we could have fought over those for the rest of the afternoon, but we wanted to get to the grocery store.

Kroger is in the middle of moving stuff around and changing how they display things like canned soup. Because it was late in the day, most of the produce was unimpressive. There was one set of cooler shelves with nothing but a scattering of green peppers. We looked at the meat on sale, but we didn’t buy any because we’ve got plenty to keep us through this week. We were mainly seeing if there were any sales that would make stocking up a good idea.

Scott bought a bunch of different kinds of beans with the idea that he’ll cook them in the pressure cooker. What he hasn’t actually thought about is what to add to them to make them taste good. I had him buy some bacon and some chicken broth with the intention of having those as options that I could manage.

Scott came to the conclusion, after a lot of calling around, that our only real option for internet faster than what we currently have is Comcast. We’re neither of us pleased about it, but, at least for the first two years, bundling cable, internet, and phone through them will be cheaper than what we’re currently paying for internet and phone. (Not having cable saves $10 a month. Scott’s willing to pay that much to watch his CW shows as they air.) AT&T won’t do internet at our address at all even though they’ve been calling us and sending us letters trying to get us to sign up for many years, and we’re apparently too far from the central whosiwhatsis for everybody else.
