Our water has been running brown the last 2-4 hours (I’m not actually sure). The city website doesn’t have any record of a problem near us, but that might be because most people around here aren’t home at this time of day. I don’t know. It might also just be us.

I think I got the water to clear by running it for several minutes, so maybe we’re okay. The toilet bowl is actually showing red brown staining, but I’d have thought a single afternoon too short a time for iron stains, so I don’t know. I mean, they definitely look like iron stains. (Where we lived when I was a teenager, we had hard water with lots of iron. I know iron stains.)

The water smells fine, at least.

The laundry I washed before realizing there was a problem smells and looks fine, even the whites. I was a little worried because one white t-shirt looked a little grungy. I couldn’t remember if it had before or not, but the other whites were still very definitely white.

I reported the problem on the website, but they want water issues reported by phone, and I just… I don’t think I have the resources to do that at the moment. If I’d had a couple of nights of solid sleep in a row, I’d probably manage. Scott does not understand this at all, but I’m out of the ability to deal with such things.

Scott’s picking up some bottled water on his way home. We don’t normally do that, but it’s nice that we have the option. I drink a lot of water most days, so not having definitely drinkable tap water is a real hardship.
