August Writing Progress

Let’s see… Stories I worked on in August. I think there were four. One got completed and posted. The other three are still in progress. Two of them have titles. Two (not the same two) have due dates. The unnamed one is that pinch hit, so I won’t be mentioning the title once I do select one.

I’m not sure how many words any of these stories already had at the beginning of August.

I started "They Come Knocking Like Hearts Asking" on the 29th of July, so I could have written quite a bit of it before August. Or not. I don’t remember. It came out to 4322 words. I think I wrote about half of them after I talked to my beta, and I’m pretty sure that writing was after August 1st because I think I did a lot of it while we were in Chicago.

"Nothing False and Possible" is another Amber AU variant that I started months ago but doubled or tripled the length of in the last week. That’s at about 5000 (the word count is approximate because I’ve got some notes in the document and am not willing to try count around them). It’s another Merlin/Luke thing but in the Blue Cave and with Merlin in a female human form. This is the one where I have pronoun trouble.

"The Fruit of Your Intents" is the Iddy Iddy Bang Bang story, also an Amber AU with explicit Merlin/Luke non-con and consensual Merlin/Martin (so far not explicit and probably won’t go there because I want this damned story to end at some point). That’s about 26000 words and not done. I started writing the second half of it on August 6th and the first half on July 30th, but I still haven’t finished either, so I’m not sure how to count that. I worked on both bits in turn because I wasn’t sure they’d fit together.

This is due on the 15th. Will it be done? Damned if I know. I’m pretty sure it won’t be polished or beta read or anything of the sort. The combination of length, obscure fandom, and non-con m/m, well… I suppose I should try something like the Yuletide IRC. There are likely to be people there, talking about what to nominate. Maybe there’s one who knows the fandom, has a plethora of extra time right this moment, and doesn’t mind non-con. Stranger things have happened. i don’t expect it, but it’s not impossible. ::laughs:: I wouldn’t be surprised if this is an audience of me story.

I think the length is the biggest barrier with the other two tied for second. At least I’m still having fun.

The pinch hit so far was all in August (my last edit was about 8:00 last night), and that’s 1439 words.

So I guess I can say that I wrote at least 20000 words in August. That’s a lot more than I usually manage.

I put a title on at least one other WIP, but I didn’t add any words to it.

I fell way, way behind on responding to the rp scene I’ve been doing for the last few months. I’ve got to get back to that.

Oh where/what do you RP? I used to RP here on LJ. Kinda miss it sometimes. Other times I wonder how I ever kept up with everything.

I've been doing it on DreamWidth. There's a community there called rpanons where people look for folks to to with. I've had mixed luck because I don't know the terminology and am mostly interested in fandoms more than a decade old.

The big games all look too much, and finding a single person or small group is hard.
