Drat. The light switches at the top of the basement stairs don’t do anything any more. They’re supposed to turn on two overhead lights, one in each part of the basement, and neither of those lights go on any more. I can turn one on and off via another switch at the bottom of the stairs, but the other doesn’t have a second switch.
I think we probably ought to get an electrician in. It’s not logistically urgent, but the sudden failure of a switch that’s worked reliably for the last twenty years at least is likely a sign of some sort of problem that ought to be looked at. I am not going to let Scott deal with it himself. First because, at this time of year, he has no time for anything like that. Second because I think that amateur mucking around with that sort of wiring isn’t a good idea.
