Hm. Zoloft at night or Zoloft in the morning? The doctor told me that there was about an equal chance that the medication would make me sleepy or would make me unable to sleep.

I’m kind of leaning toward morning just because being sleepy in the morning would be less terrible for me than being sleepless tonight. On the other hand, Paxil made me fall asleep every time I stopped moving for more than a few seconds. I don’t remember how I reacted to Celexa (it’s been twenty years). Prozac didn’t make me sleepy or sleepless, just gave me constant tremors.

Anyone else taken Zoloft?

Yes, but neither "sleepiness" nor "insomnia" were side effects I remember having on Zoloft. I don't remember if I was on it once or twice a day; if once, I'd've taken it in the mornings.

Based on my prescription records spreadsheet I was on Zoloftt from Apr 1998 to Nov 2002 or Jan 2003 (last refill Oct 2002, but I can't tell if it was a 30- or 90-day fill), in what appears to be up to 150mg doses. I don't remember why I went off it, though based on the timing it might have been "the expense" since I was out of work for most of the Jan 2003–May 2004 period and may have been able to cope without it until I started the Wellbutrin (which I'm still taking) in May 2006.

She's doing okay. This (left) eye itches more post-op than the first (right) one did. We'll know more after this morning's follow-up.

I've been on and off Zoloft for the past year - 25 mg pretty much works for me at this point. The first things I noticed when starting (or re-starting it) was a) sleep within an hour of taking; b) mild headache for a day or two when starting or changing a dose; and c) my bowels liked me again (tmi, but I've had...issues...all my life, and losing my gallbladder didn't help any; serotonin is produced and used in the guts too, so...yay?). I know everyone's different and your mileage may vary; serotonin is supposed to be metabolized into melatonin, which helps with sleep regulation. Have you tried taking a melatonin supplement before bed? It might be helpful.

That's what I'm on that gave me the sleepies when I was taking it in the morning. But then when I increased the dosage and took it at night, it messed up my sleep. So now, I take it twice a day, and that's working well so far.

Good luck!
