Nov. 5th, 2016 09:02 pmGrr. I now have what feels like tendonitis in both thumbs and my left heel. The pain isn’t terrible, just bad enough to make me not want to do certain things. Well, and the thumb thing is making me have trouble picking things up because I can’t grip well. The worst thing I can do in terms of pain there is to pinch my thumb toward my fingers.
I’m not actually sure what’s going on with my heel. It feels like tendonitis, but it’s very low down on the bone at the back of my foot (not on the bottom of my foot at all), low enough down that there’s really nothing there but the bone and skin which all feel normal, no lumps or swelling. Given the location, it has to be the achilles tendon or something involving the fascia, right?
It doesn’t hurt higher up or elsewhere on my foot at all. It feels tight and mostly hurts when I walk. From what I gather achilles tendon problems usually hurt higher up, and plantar fascitis is generally along the bottom of the foot. All of the other causes of heel pain I’ve come across (the Mayo Clinic has a list) range from pretty damned unlikely to absolutely not what’s going on at all.
I’m going to have to bite the bullet and call to make an appointment with my doctor. I don’t mind seeing her; it’s the phone call I don’t want to deal with.
