Scott's cousin's daughter got married Labor Day weekend. He and I drove down to South Bend for the wedding. The service was mercifully short given that the church was tiny and packed. We sat with Scott's parents and his sister and her family in the very back pew. I ended up ignoring the ceremony in favor of trying to keep my nephew somewhat occupied while everybody else passed his younger sister around trying to keep her quiet.

The reception was across town at a Catholic school in the gym (I have no idea why they didn't get married at the church next to the school. It'd have seemed sensible to me. I guess either the scheduling wouldn't work or they were trying to accommodate different flavors of Christianity for the two families. Hard to say...). The reception was served "home style" with dishes passed along the tables. There wasn't much that I could eat, so Scott and I skipped out early in order to find me food. Scott's sister and her husband also left early so that they could get the kids to bed.

We had breakfast the next day with Scott's aunt and uncle. (That bit of the family tree is pretty complicated. I finally broke down and asked Scott about it, but he wasn't sure exactly how it works. Basically, either his aunt married her daughter's father-in-law or his cousin married her step-brother. Scott's not sure of the order because apparently the aunt and uncle married, split up and then got back together. Oh, well. I don't really need to know.) I was very pleased to discover that the restaurant served lunch all day since most breakfast foods either cause me major physical problems or are forbidden by my diet.
