Sep. 8th, 2002 08:21 pmWe're thinking we're going to have to get our bathroom redone. Water's been coming around the shower curtain and hitting the wall, getting into the wallboard and leaking into the basement. We only realized it because I noticed discoloration in the ceiling tiles (more excuse to rip them out and throw them away!!!). We could probably resolve the problem in some other way, but the bathroom has so many things that we've wanted to clean up or fix for years that this is a good occasion.
The room's not all that large, so we're not going to play around with the fixtures (well, maybe a new tub). We need to redo the floor and the tiles on the walls. The tile on the floor is a discolored yellow that has bulged and buckled a little over the years. The tile on the walls is maroon plastic and not all that firmly attached anymore (the house was built in the 1950s, and the bathroom's never been refinished). We also want to do something about the window in the shower enclosure. I don't think we can get rid of it altogether, but it's wooden and tends toward rot and mildew. If we can replace the frame, I suspect that we'll decrease the likelihood that it'll just fall apart on us some day.
