Sep. 17th, 2002 11:09 amWe're almost ready to put the mirrors back up in the basement. Scott's gotten all of the bracing in place except for the trim. I'm currently painting the trim. I primed it yesterday and did a coat of white on it today. We're still debating what color to paint it. We've got white, a middling dark blue (that we could make lighter by adding white...) and lemon green. This trim is different in style from the stuff that we recently put up on the other side of the basement (which we used all three colors on). The part of the basement where this'll be going up is fairly dark, so we've already rejected using the undiluted blue. Beyond that, we've no solid opinions.
I'm slightly inclined toward using the lemon green because the rest of the walls of shelves have white painted walls and shelves on the upper half and lemon green painted paneling on the lower half. The wall we're currently working on has white painted walls and shelves on the lower half and no green at all. There's about 8 inches of naked paneling below the bottom shelf that I'll have to paint after the mirrors go up (I wanted to paint it before Scott put it in, but he forgot. Oh, well...). I haven't decided whether to do that in green or white, but I'll probably go with green because it'll be less potentially messy when I hit the corner.
Once the mirrors are up, we'll be able to move the loveseat. I'm not certain that that'll be its permanent home, but it'll certainly stay there at least until we finally get rid of the bar. Speaking of which, Scott's set up to advertise the bar again. I've had to argue quite a bit to persuade him that "best offer" is better than "$150 or best offer." After all, if somebody's willing to offer us more than our target price, I wouldn't want to say no, but nobody'll offer more than the target price if they know what it is. Quite frankly, I don't want anyone to realize that they might be able to get away with simply offering to haul the damn thing away for free.
We've actually got photos online this time so that I don't have to try to describe the bar to callers. I had trouble last time because I think the thing's very ugly; that makes enthusiasm difficult.
