Scott remains unimpressed by the instructor for his database class. Apparently, the man is reluctant to answer questions and tends to forget that his students don't know the material as well as he does. If this weren't a prerequisite for the next sequence Scott wants to take, I think he'd have dropped the class by now. As it is, he's getting frustrated already. Since he's still preparing for the third certification test for Linux systems administration, he's spending a lot more time on that than on the current class.

This afternoon, I need to go to the public library. My goal is to get some books on Italy in the 1930s. The new biweekly White Wolf game I've started involves time travel, and I just dumped them all in Italy in June of 1934. I got a bit of material online (enough to pick the date), but I need more. I'm hoping that the topic is general enough that I'll be able to find what I need without going to the university library. I don't want to go into the sort of depth that the books at the U library would have.

I also need to buy bus tokens. I finally got over to the AATA headquarters to apply for a "fare deal" card. I qualify because I'm getting Medicare. This'll le me ride for half price which will be a help in terms of making me feel less guilty about going out for small errands. I have the impression that I'll be buying a different type of tokens now (It makes sense because they'll want to be sure I can't give them to anyone else), and they told me I'll have to buy them by the hundred. I don't like that last since they want cash for them, and $50 is more than I'm generally likely to carry with me. Hopefully, I won't have to go to the headquarters again for the tokens. They didn't say I'd need to, but... I've found few bureaucrats who'll volunteer information that useful.

I do, however, have $50 cash right now. Last week, I participated as a control in a study at the U Hospital, and they paid me in cash. It was pretty simple, so I wasn't bothered much by it. Basically, I had to measure liquids in and out of my body for 72 hours and then go in for an hour of physical tests. The tests were a bit uncomfortable which didn't surprise me since they were studying incontinence, but I left $100 richer. I'm probably going to do something frivolous with the money eventually.
