Oct. 11th, 2002 01:29 pmI picked up a boxed set of Blue Seed DVDs for $39.99 a few days ago. I watched pieces of the series yesterday just to check that everything was working right. I think I'll have to see if I can get Scott to watch that, one more thing on the list... At the same time, I picked up a FarScape DVD. I'd have passed it up, but it had five episodes, four of which we missed when we were attempting to tape the series. So we now have "My Three Crichtons," "Out of Their Minds" and the three "Look at the Princess" episodes on DVD. I haven't looked at the DVD yet, but Scott did last night, and he says it looks good.
On Wednesday, I went in for the neuropsychometric testing. It wasn't at all what I expected (though I can't say for sure what I did expect). I suspect that what they mainly got from it is that I'm intelligent and extremely good with words (I can tell the difference between "beautify" and "beatify" and pronounce both correctly!) and that my hands shake. We'll see. Now I have to make an appointment to see the neurologist again to discuss the results.
Today, I'm working on teaching myself the double crochet. I've mastered the single and the half double (both of which LunarGeography showed me), and I thought it was time to move on. I've got a pamphlet that claims to teach the basics, and I thought I'd see if I understand enough now to follow it. So far as I can tell, I do. I've gotten two rows done and will probably do three or four more just to be sure I've got it down. Maybe I'll even take one of my cheap balls of yarn and try something potholder sized... That seems to be the best way to set a stitch solidly in my memory. Once that's done, I'll try tackling the triple crochet. After that, I'll be ready to play with combinations and actually make some things-- Coasters, granny squares, maybe even a blanket.
Scott's going to play golf with his father on Sunday. This is officially so that Scott can try out his clubs (I'm not clear as to whether they're new or simply resized to fit his adult height). His father paid to have the changes made and wants to see what difference they make. All of this means that I'll be spending the afternoon with my mother-in-law and probably my sister-in-law and her kids. Hopefully, I won't be itching to write at that point because I won't really be able to. They'd want to know what I was writing, and I can't really explain it to them.
Scott has next week off from work. He hopes to take those last two Linux certification tests then, and we've got a list of home projects and errands to be dealt with. We need to finish putting up the mirrors in the basement, get the "loft" built for the computer equipment in the study, clean out the spare bedroom, buy birthday presents for both of my sisters-in-law, decide whether or not we're keeping the new mattress. There's a host of other stuff we need to do, but much of it's slipping my mind at the moment.
