Scott bought me a new used laptop for Christmas. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to learn the ins and outs of OS X and trying to get everything transferred over and working properly. We're still trying to settle on a browser since he wants to move away from Netscape (He can't entirely because that's what I use for website composition and maintenance. I'm too damn lazy to learn to hand code html, and I'm concerned about losing formatting and content if I try to transfer everything to a different program). We've experimented with OmniWeb, but there are a couple of things I don't much like (On OD, for example, none of the menus in the top bar display after I log in. It also tends to download things without confirming that I want them downloaded. Basically, if OmniWeb can't read what it finds when I click on a link it automatically downloads the file to my desktop. If I know what I'm getting, that's not so awful, but if I'm browsing and have no clear idea where that link actually goes...). Scott's now experimenting with Safari but hasn't decided yet whether or not he likes it.

At some point, I need to spend some time with the old laptop, clearing off my personal files. We're planning to give it to a friend, and I don't expect she really wants copies of my various LARPs, fiction fragments, letters to my sisters and the like. It's just another one of those things that's far too easy to keep putting off. Hey, I'm still delaying repairing the lining of my coat, and that annoys me every time I put the stupid thing on. (I have started that. It's just a monstrously huge undertaking since the lining for both arms has nearly ripped out from the lining for the torso.)
