Jan. 16th, 2003 04:13 pmWe now have two shower curtains in our shower enclosure. Scott decided to try to remove the mildew from the shower a few days ago and ended up removing all the caulking in the process. He was appalled to discover that we had black stuff actually growing behind the caulking, in the wall. I wasn't really all that surprised at the discovery myself since the caulking never holds for more than about a month at a time. Scott simply doesn't notice it because he never takes baths and is so very near sighted. I mean, he doesn't notice the orange stuff growing on the shower curtain or that fact that the shower head needs to be tightened. Him noticing something happening down near his knees is highly unlikely.
Anyway, the best solution Scott could come up with, at least until we can get the entire enclosure replaced, was to put a second shower curtain along the wall. We had a telescoping shower rod left behind by our friend Cass. He lived with us for a few months several years ago and used the shower rod to give himself a place to hang clothes since neither of the closets in the spare room actually has a rod. Scott grabbed that, and we invested a couple of bucks in another curtain. For now, that should work. And the new curtain's even white. Not even Scott can miss the orange stuff on that. Right?
