Jan. 28th, 2003 01:01 pmOn Sunday, Scott and I went to J.C. Penney. Scott's mother had told us that there was a sale on maternity clothes. I was rather disappointed in the selection. Everything was from one manufacturer, and none of it fit quite right. It made me wonder, just who are they designing this stuff for? There seemed to be an assumption that pregnancy only causes weight gain in the abdomen.
I ended up with a couple of pairs of overalls and one pair of Capri pants. I did discover that the sizing was not consistent, even within a single style. I had to buy the largest size, and even that didn't quite fit in the thighs and butt (not to mention that they had no petites so that the overalls are about six inches too long and the Capri pants quite fully ankle length). I'm going to have to keep my fingers crossed that nothing shrinks in the wash because there's no room for that.
I wore one of the pairs of overalls yesterday. I haven't worn any pants but stretch pants in years, so it all felt very weird. Denim has a lot less give to it than what I'm used to. I'd also forgotten some of the essentials of functioning with overalls, but I managed not to drag the straps in anything.
