the_rckIt occurs to me that I never mentioned that Scott finally took the third of the four linux certification tests. He did it last Thursday and passed it. He was going to take the final test, the one on ethics tomorrow, had even scheduled vacation time for it, but his employer has decided that, although he gets his official shift (6:45am-3:00pm) off they may still want him to come from 3:00am-7:00am. They don't consider this in any way violating his scheduled vacation. Since he won't know until he gets up and calls them at 2:00am whether or not he'll have to go in, he's rescheduled the test to next week.
That will interfere a little bit with our plans. Scott scheduled two days off next week because his brother and sister-in-law will be visiting from California. Figuring out when to get together with them has been a problem in the past because both of them have family in the area and because both of them are prone to making last minute changes in plans without considering how those changes affect other people. (Okay, I'm just a little bitter over years past when Scott's scheduled vacation time to coincide with when his brother's said he'll be available only to discover at the last moment that the actually time is the day before or the day after. Given that Scott needs 30 days notice, minimum, to schedule time off...) Anyway, it looks at the moment like the timing will work out this year. Scott scheduled Thursday and Friday off (I'm so glad he's senior enough to have some single days available! His company prefers to have employees take time in very specific blocks), and they're saying they'll be heading our way on Thursday. I hope it works!
