We've officially decided not to go to GenCon this year. I let the coordinator of our GM group know, and as of Saturday it'll be too late to change our minds. I'm regretting it already, but it was, I think, the right decision. I still need to think about a game for UCon, but that's a lot further in the future. Also, we normally do two games at GenCon, one new and one old; UCon doesn't require two games. We will need a new one, though.

We were playing with the notion of another science fiction setting for the next LARP. We regularly watch the TV show, Andromeda, and there was an episode last season that we both thought had potential as a jumping off point for a game (We really do love that show, but we don't really know anybody else who watches it. I've been impressed by the fact that the episodes often approach ideas from a different angle. I'll hear previews and think that the episode is likely to suck but discover on watching that the clichés have been reworked, that the emotional implications of events haven't been ignored, that... Well, I enjoy the show).

Basically, the episode involves a bunch of high powered diplomats/politicians getting together to sign a charter establishing a multi-system government and to figure out who's going to fill the top positions in this new organization. From there, the episode wandered off into weird and kind of dull territory, but the notion of such a gathering appealed to us. Each character would have a very specific agenda in terms of language for the charter. Several characters could expect to achieve powerful office within the new government. Outside forces might well be trying to sabotage the proceedings, and there'd most likely be a variety of factions with very different visions of how the whole thing ought to turn out.

Isn't Rheotaxis great? I'm threatening to write her even more omakes. 8^)

...including a certain shower scene...

I am glad that you made that decision, Anne. I just don't think you needed the added stress, sturm und drang, and all that.
