I'm no longer as convinced that it was just the apple that caused me problems. I'm still queasy and reluctant to eat. My life is not helped by the fact that I seem to have lost my morning medication when I lost my breakfast. I'd retake them, but doing that if I didn't lose the pill would put me over what's reasonably safe for the antacid.

Anyway, I'm now drinking some vanilla coke in hopes that that will help. I've found the sugar/carbonation combination to be helpful for this sort of thing in the past.

My morning frustrations proceeded as I went and tried to start up our desktop computer. I tried several times, and the monitor simply wouldn't come on. Finally, it occurred to me to stand up and check the switchbox (I'm too short to see it when I'm seated). Scott had left it set to "B" which is the Windows machine, and the dratted thing can only boot properly when set to "A." The monitor simply won't play if the Mac system gets started while the monitor's set to deal with input from another box. Our standard practice is to make sure the switch is set to "A" after everything's shut down at night in order to prevent the sort of situation I encountered. This is largely an acknowledgment of the fact that we both think more clearly at night when shutting things down than in the morning when starting them up; it's easier to remember to get the settings right then.
