My mother e-mailed me this morning to say that it's going to take them an extra day to get here. After I took a peek at the Weather Channel, I completely understood. They decided to drive up into Kentucky and then stop for the night. I haven't heard from them, so I don't know how things have worked out (My family has this attitude that says we only call each other if things go wrong, so I knew they wouldn't call. It kind of annoys me, but nothing I've ever done has changed the practice). I considered calling my sister's fiancé to see if they'd told him where they stopped, but I never quite got around to it. I've only met the man once, so I don't feel completely comfortable talking to him.

At any rate, this means that I've got no real idea of when they'll be arriving. I suppose it will depend on road conditions as they move through Ohio. Part of the reason they planned to stop was that they'd heard that I-75 was closed near Cincinnati. They've promised to call me when they're nearby, but I'm not sure what they'll define as nearby.

I've got a crock pot of soup cooking. I wanted something that I could keep warm all day without too much damage, something that would be ready whenever they actually arrive.

I spent today catching up on sleep and didn't bother even getting dressed. At this point, I've got a couple of suspicions as to what might be the provocation for the reflux. One possibility is some of the Chinese food we had on Friday, and the other is a new fruit juice. The former's possible because we got something a little spicy. The latter... Well, grape juice is a major ingredient, and it gives me some problems normally (White grape juice isn't a problem at all, so it's something in the purple).

This evening, we watched the remake of The Music Man, the one with Matthew Broderick. I was rather disappointed. As my husband said, Broderick came across as not quite sure that he was supposed to be there. He's a little too smooth when trying to manage the patter, and he simply doesn't have the... presence required. In addition, several of the actors simply seemed too young for their roles, and the guy playing the mayor came across as someone who might need to be taken seriously. I suppose that part of it is that I was comparing everybody to the Robert Preston version.

We did like the actress playing the lead. Her style was decidedly modern, but she had a good voice. The barbershop quartet were also excellent (though appearing far too young). Mrs. Paroo had a rather erratic accent but was otherwise solid.
