Tuesday night, a college friend, Valerie, persuaded me to go to a La Leche League meeting. I was reluctant since it's extremely likely that I'm not going to breastfeed, and I didn't want to have to argue my decision with anybody. Fortunately, nobody gave me a hard time about it once I explained the situation. They were a little irked that I've had such trouble getting information from medical professionals (they seemed to have a bias to be annoyed with doctors anyway, so I suspect that I just benefited from something already there). I found it all interesting because there were several new and expectant mothers there asking questions of the more experienced mothers. One mother was having trouble with thrush; another expectant mother wanted advice on how to convince her husband that breastfeeding wasn't a bad thing. There was also some discussion about troubles some women have run into with breastfeeding in public (the response of the group leaders was quite sane-- Write letters, seek legislation and avoid public demonstrations that might upset people who're otherwise supportive or at least not hostile). Several women commented that they'd never run into any opposition to breastfeeding in public, that they thought the problem is relatively rare now, just very inflammatory when it comes up.

My Wednesday Amber game ran this week for the first time in quite a while. I wasn't really feeling up to Gming after so long a break, but I did it anyway. I feel like the session was very fragmented, partly because I'd lost track of my plot threads.
