the_rckI didn't end up going to Alessar's for anime watching last night. LunarGeography called me shortly before 6pm to tell me that she wasn't up to going and that I'd need to get there on my own. Sadly, that was rather short notice to try to arrange a ride. Pretty much everybody's on the road by then or, at least, not checking their e-mail. I wasn't horribly disappointed, however, because I'd been feeling rather crappy (when even water produces heartburn, the day becomes fairly miserable). I more felt bad that I wasn't making more of an effort to get there. I could, after all, have conceivably made my husband drive me over and drop me off and hoped to catch a ride home with one of the guys, but... I just didn't want to face it right then.
Scott and I did end up doing a major grocery run. I'd been having trouble coming up with reasonable meals because my grocery shopping hadn't been done in nearly two weeks. Scott will generally stop on his way home from work to pick up the stuff he absolutely has to have for his lunches, but that doesn't help me much, even when he calls and asks if I need anything. I need to sit down and make a list, and even then everything works better if I actually go on the trip. We bought about $200 worth of groceries (which cost us a little less since we had a 10% off coupon).
We decided to try a few different types of fruit juices, looking for some that don't make my reflux worse. We stuck with brands that promised 100% juice and that we were fairly sure didn't contain purple grape juice (white grape juice seems to go down okay apart from the fact that I find it sickeningly sweet); for some reason, ingredient listings don't distinguish between white and purple grape juice. We also picked up a fair selection of canned goods and other non-perishables. With the discount, it seemed reasonable to stock up on stuff we know we're going to use and keep using.
