I've gotten some bits and pieces of writing done over the course of the last week. Part 10 runs about 8 pages so far. I'm not entirely happy with it because I need to change the attitudes of the characters involved sufficiently to reflect recent events without losing their voices or pushing them to places that those changes shouldn't take them.

I did have a couple of days when new writing seemed impossible, so I started doing some revisions to part 5. As with part 4, the bits that I'm still hung up on are, by and large, descriptive. I don't expect I'll finish part 5 really soon, but then I'm not trying to. I want to finish part 10 and probably start in on part 11 before I post again. I feel a need to stay ahead of what I'm posting by enough that I can still post occasionally even if I hit a patch when I can't write anything new for a few weeks.

Today's project is to call a travel agent to get tickets to go to Las Vegas for my sister's wedding. We've only got two weeks left now, and I can't put it off any longer. Yesterday, I actually got the phone book open. Today, I want to make the call (I was going to stop in there on my way back from doing the gestational diabetes test, but that's not going to happen, and I don't want to wait for Monday unless I absolutely have to). My parents have said they'll help us with the cost. Once we've got tickets, I'll ask Mom to deal with getting us a hotel room. If they cover that, I think we can handle the travel expenses.

I'm a little concerned that our travel options may be limited by my pregnancy. I'll be at 28 weeks when we travel, and my obstetrician has no concern about it, but airlines worry rather more. I expect it's because, if anything goes wrong, they're the ones on the spot. My mother suggested just wearing a large coat and not saying anything, but I'm not really comfortable with that option. We'll see.

If it's any consolation, a little quick websearching suggests that airlines seem to get antsy around 36 weeks, rather than much earlier (mostly due to the concenrs about early birth, rather than anything else).

If you're nervous, I'd suggest getting a letter from your doctor, confirming your due date.
