Mar. 9th, 2003 07:36 pmGood news and bad news. Fortunately, the good news outweighs the bad (or will shortly). The bad news is that the slight cold I had the last time I wrote here has become a nasty massive critter that has led to lack of sleep and various other bits of unpleasantness. The good news is that, at LunarGeography's urging (I won't quite call it nagging), I called my OB and went in early. Everything, including my blood pressure, came up normal. We have no explanation as to what caused the high reading on Wednesday.
My OB suggests nervousness, but I don't buy it. If visiting a new doctor affected me that way, I'd have expected my BP to have gone that high before since I frequently do walk-ins when I'm sick and see whoever's available. Besides, my BP wasn't that high the first time I saw her, and I very nervous.
LunarGeography offered the possible explanation that I had had to wade through snow (okay, it wasn't much past my ankles at the deepest. Still...) to get to the bus stop to get to the appointment. I have asthma to cold air (I breathe through a scarf when I'm out in really cold weather to help prevent attacks), and my ability to breathe properly is disappearing along with my waistline. For some reason, my diaphragm can't expand quite as far as it used to. I had to move a lot more slowly than usual simply in order not to exhaust the oxygen available to me.
Hm. It occurs to me that I'll have to allow an extra half hour to get to my dental appointment on Thursday. All of my estimates as to how long it'll take me to walk somewhere just don't apply any more.
