Tuesday, Cordelia told me that I didn't have to go to soccer practice, so I didn't go. That felt weird. I think it's the first soccer practice I've skipped ever. I think Delia's realized that I'm not very interested in watching the practices because I've started bringing books to read. I haven't done that in previous seasons because a book was just one more thing to carry when I already had too much. Now, with the practices at Delia's school, practice is easy enough to get to that I can afford to carry a book.

Scott still went to practice, of course. He would so much like to be coaching the team. The two high school kids are still the official coaches, but Scott's suggesting drills, making rosters and buying equipment (he just bought twelve pennies (pinnies? I'm not sure how it's spelled), six yellow and six blue, so that the girls can tell who's on which team when they scrimmage).

Wednesday was Scott's Babylon 5 game. [livejournal.com profile] booniverse was sick and couldn't attend, so Scott had to improvise something else for us to do. The party is currently split with those whose characters aren't with a particular group playing temporary characters who fit the setting. Scott had been running the section for [livejournal.com profile] booniverse and her husband (my character is kind of in that section too, but peripherally). Having to switch over to the other group of characters meant making up characters on the fly for me and Matt to play. Fortunately, the session went well.

Thursday, Delia had her six month dental appointment. There were no cavities. On the way to the dentist, we stopped at a new cookie shop and at the bubble tea place (we carried all of that with us until we got home. The cookies did not survive well, but the bubble tea was fine). As we walked along the sidewalk to get to the cookie place, we passed a store that primarily sells condoms (I can't remember the name of the store off the top of my head). Out front was a sign saying that May is masturbation month. Delia naturally asked me what masturbation means. I think I managed to explain without getting too tangled up.

In the evening, there was a gathering at the school. They had six lanes of bowling set up in the gym at $2 for six frames (Is frames the right word? I seem to recall that being the right word). There was also a used book sale, food for sale and a free movie in the cafeteria. I didn't find any books I wanted, but Delia found two for herself. After not too long, Delia wanted to play outside on the playground. Scott offered to take over supervision and let me go home, and I took him up on it.

Today, I had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] odosgirl. We went to Panera again. We talked about teaching and religion. She taught two sections of remedial writing this term and was kind of amazed by the people who failed to turn in any of the writing assignments (40% of the grade) but still showed up for the exam (15% of the grade). Since she'd set 75% as the threshold for passing the class, those who didn't turn in any writing are definitely going to fail.
