In my day to day summaries, I lose track of some of the things I really ought to be writing about to preserve the memories. They're so ephemeral. This week, the three of us had a minor pillow fight and a major tickle fight one evening. We were all laughing so hard and just enjoying being together. I want that memory crystal clear in my head because the moment was joyous. I just don't have words for it.

Those moments are both small and huge. They're ordinary enough that talking about (or writing about) them never seems to capture the moment, but they're also a big part of what makes life worthwhile. When things are bad, it's easy to forget previous ordinary joys and to miss the new ones coming by.

I need to store up good Delia moments to carry me through her adolescence. I'll want to remember now when she hates me because I'm ruining her life.
