May. 13th, 2003 05:22 pmWe spent Mother's Day with Scott's family and with Scott's sister's in-laws. It was a fairly laid back gathering, all in all. We had dinner. Everybody but me played with the kids (I'm just not mobile enough at the moment); well, I guess I kind of played with our niece-- She and I started imitating each other across the table, and she thought that was pretty neat.
Our brother-in-law told us that he works with a guy whose brother (or maybe brother-in-law) works for a facility that tests crib safety. Some of the good cribs are apparently still quite usable after the testing's done, and Brian thinks we might be able to get one since all they do is throw the cribs out. Since we've got time on the crib, Scott and I figured the lead was worth checking out. We've got a bassinet that we plan to use for the first few weeks anyway. Suzanne also mentioned that she has a friend who may be getting rid of a crib.
I've finished all but one of the thank you notes for the shower. The one still remaining is for Sandra, the woman who hosted the gathering. I want to buy her something small and nice as a thank you token. I just don't have any ideas-- I don't know a lot about her tastes or allergies or...
Scott did act put upon when I made him write the thank you notes to his aunt and cousins (they shipped gifts to us because they couldn't attend the shower). I don't really know them at all, and I thought that Scott might have a better idea of what to say to them. Besides, three notes seems trivial next to the number I wrote, and I told him so (with a bit of humor, I think; at least, I hope so).
