Last night, Scott had Lewis' Star Wars campaign, so LunarGeography came over to keep me company. She got the thrilling experience of helping me give Delia a bath. I almost chickened out on it, but I knew I wanted her to have one before her one month check up tomorrow, and Scott's working from 3am to 3pm tomorrow, so he won't be available to help tonight. Bathing Delia right now is really a two person job since she's slippery and goes rigid with rage at the same time that she flails about.

We had a bit of a disaster because I forgot to make sure the baby tub was plugged before I started pouring in water-- Everything else on the table got soaked. Still, we survived. (Scott wasn't even too upset about the damage to his brother's birthday card. Thank goodness! That was the one thing that got wet that we actually needed.)

Sadly, Delia refused to go to sleep after that. We bathed her about 8, and I finally got her to sleep about 1am. Oh, she dozed here and there during the intervening time but not for more than a few minutes at a time. She also nursed sporadically and fussed a bit. I had high hopes when she finally let loose and filled her diaper at about 10:30, but by that time she was too tired and grumpy to sleep easily. I now know what her "I'm tired but I'll be damned if I'm going to sleep" crying sounds like.

I'm debating trying to work on some house cleaning. My mother-in-law is coming tomorrow to drive us to the pediatrician, and I don't really want her to see the mess. On the other hand, trying to do serious cleaning is going to exhaust me, and Scott will not be able to help since he's going to have to go to bed as early as he can manage this evening. And that assumes that Delia will cooperate. Right at the moment, she's sleeping very lightly-- The afternoon is her normal wakeful time.

I've managed to give myself bursitis in my left knee. Most of the time it doesn't precisely hurt. There's a numb patch on my knee that flairs into pain when I kneel or exert the muscles in certain ways. I've been icing it, but there's not too much else I can do about it. Oddly enough, Scott's also having a knee problem-- His started with some sort of bite, insect or spider presumably, that swelled painfully. It started Saturday, and he saw a doctor on Monday. The doctor took one look and said, "Infection." Scott's now taking antibiotics. Hopefully everything will be well soon.

That 100 words a day notion is actually working pretty well for me. I've managed to add a few pages to the scenes I've been working on. It's not as much as I might have managed before the baby, but it's still something. I desperately need the mental stimulation provided by writing. My brain's starting to rot from doing nothing but eat, drink, sleep, feed the baby, change the baby, rock the baby...

Delia's a darling, but she's not yet really good company in terms of conversation. I think I need to start trying to get us out of the house a bit more, if only so that I don't get bored out of my mind. I'm a little nervous about taking the stroller on the bus; my mother thinks it will be too large to fit. I seem to recall seeing largish strollers on the bus before, but... It will be very frustrating if she's right. I need to measure it and then e-mail the bus company to ask if it will fit. Maybe I can persuade them to accommodate it even if it's a bit large-- After all, it's my disability that requires such a clunky vehicle. I simply can't carry the stuff that we need, so the stroller has to be able to do so. That 15-20 pound lifting limit thing...
