The books from my Amazon order have been trickling in. Most of them were used books from dealers, so they're arriving one by one. I think I got some reasonably good deals. I got three Michelle Martin romances that are out of print; I haven't finished any of them yet, but they'll be good, easily interruptible reading. Her romances are reasonably well written and plotted.

I got Planet Ladder v.3 which all of the new stores around here have been out of. Once that came, I whipped through it and went on to read v.4 and 5 which I'd picked up a couple of weeks ago. I've been enjoying the series, and I'm curious to see where it will go.

Beth Hilgartner's A Parliament of Owls was one of the first to arrive, and it sucked me right in. I really enjoy her writing in general (I'm continually searching for an affordable copy of A Necklace of Falling Stars, the first book of hers that I ever read which is sadly out of print. I'm hoping that Meisha Merlin will pick it up and reissue it now that they're publishing all her new stuff, but I'm not holding my breath. Then again, Meisha Merlin's a great publisher for that sort of thing). Of course, I now have to wait for the next book in the series...

I've also picked up a couple of children's books that I wanted. Sherwood Smith's Wren's Quest fills in a gap in my collection. I have Wren To the Rescue in paperback and Wren's War (I may have the title slightly wrong) in hardcover. It's a good kid's series, and I hope that Delia will like it some day (I'd have bought it anyway).

I also got a copy of Marguerite de Angeli's The Black Fox of Lorne. de Angeli's most famous book is The Door in the Wall, which some of you may have read, but this one is a favorite of mine. I haven't seen a copy in years, so I'm well pleased with a withdrawn library copy. It's still in reasonably good shape, and what I want is the words.
