It's been a long few days. Delia's been deciding from time to time that she's hungry but doesn't want to nurse. Specifically, 11am on Friday, 5pm on Friday and 1pm today. Each time, when I offer her my breast, she screams. On Friday, she wasn't even willing to try; while today, she sucked a little before freaking. At the moment the only explanation I can think of is that she objects to the summer squash I've been eating which is a pity because not only do I like the stuff but we're also getting quite a bit of it-- It seems that the squash plant and zucchini plant that LunarGeography gave me are actually both squash plants, and the spot by the garage seems to suit them quite well.

Everything in that flowerbed's growing pretty well, actually. The sweet potato that I planted just because it sprouted on our counter is thriving. I didn't realize that they were a vining plant, but that's what's growing there. The three plants Scott bought are also doing pretty well. Sadly, the bindweed is also thriving. In years past, I've exerted myself to keep the bindweed from rounding the corner of the garage into that flowerbed, but I haven't been able to keep up with it this year. Ah, well... I suppose it'll be interesting to see whether or not the iris and rosebush can survive being strangled.

The mint along the back of the garage is giving the bindweed some competition (which was one of the reasons I planted mint there), but the mint's also mutated considerably in the year since I first planted it-- The leaves look a bit deformed. I know mints tend to cross pollinate... I wonder if the wild catnip all over the yard is close enough to peppermint for that?
