On Sunday, Laura drove us up to Scott's parents' place. Grandma and Aunt Mary Jane were already there, but we managed to arrive before anybody else. Both ladies had gifts for Delia in the form of dresses. Delia won't be able to wear them for a while since both are 12 month size, but it's good to have her wardrobe growing.

Everybody else arrived soon after. Aunt Monika didn't come because she was ill. Uncle Frank said it was something she'd caught from one of her patients. Aunt Donna also didn't come; I don't know why. My cousins were, not too surprisingly, all a lot older than I remembered. I've seen them maybe three times in the last ten years, at my wedding, at Grandma M's funeral and at the reception for Laura's first marriage.

Scott managed to arrive about 4:30. Grandma and Aunt Mary Jane had already left, off to see Aunt Mary Jane's new great-grandchild. Everybody else was on the verge of departing but stuck around long enough to say hello. Sigh... I swear, some of my relatives must occasionally wonder if Scott exists...

Laura, Delia, Scott and I stayed a while longer so that Scott could eat and visit a bit with his parents. It was good to relax and hang out. I owe my mother-in-law serious thanks for hosting the gathering. There was no way I could have put something like that together at our place, and Grandma won't drive to Ann Arbor (Laura thinks it's because the last time Grandma came down here it was because she had to spend lots of time at St. Joe's, first with Aunt Cathy and then with Grandpa. It was not a fun time, and St. Joe's isn't all that easy to find from the highway).
