Dec. 17th, 2003 06:51 pmTonight, Delia and I are home alone. Scott's gone off to see Return of the King. I, as always, will be waiting for the DVD. It's going to be a long wait. To occupy myself, I'm writing some journal entries. Some of them may never get posted, but here's a little bit about the last few days.
Monday night,
lunargeography visited for a little while. I showed her the bits of "Rheotaxis" that I'd completed since she last visited. We also talked about anime, manga and fanfics.
I realized after she left that I do most of my writing during the day or two after her visits. I need to find a way around that-- It's frustrating for me and unfair on her. I simply find her comments inspiring, and her understanding of what I'm trying to do helps me clarify my thoughts. There must be some other way for me to do all of that without having her read my work every couple of days.
Yesterday, Delia and I skipped playgroup because Scott's father was going to be in town for a morning meeting and wanted to stop in to visit. Everything timed out perfectly. He arrived right after she finished her first nap; we'd just had time for a diaper change and feeding. Delia was happy and playful. She still didn't want him to hold her, but she was willing to play with him, grab his magnetic bracelet and make a lot of noise as long as I was holding her. He didn't stay all that long because he had to get back to work.
In the evening, we went shopping for our niece's Christmas present. The parking lot at Barnes & Noble was packed because there was a book signing going on, but Scott still managed to find a spot. We picked up a copy of Shel Silverstein's Where the Sidewalk Ends. I called Suzanne from the store to make sure that the family didn't already have it. Our niece is two, but I think she'll enjoy the poems now. Hopefully, she'll continue to enjoy them as she grows up.
From the bookstore, we went on to Whole Foods to pick up some baby food. After our experience with butternut squash (we still have 2 jars left), we're only buying one jar of any new food. We wanted to get more apples since the first jar went okay. Well, mostly okay. She suddenly started crying about halfway through the jar but was fine with the other half the next day. We think she was just tired, but last night she did the same thing halfway through a jar of apples mixed with sweet potato (but again was fine eating it this afternoon), so we're being watchful.

Date: 2003-12-18 12:38 pm (UTC)One of the many mysteries of baby behavior... Ah, well, I can always just nod sagely and say, "She must be teething."
