We had our 11th anniversary while we were at Origins, Saturday the 26th. It was a moderately dreadful day for me for various reasons, and Scott and I both basically forgot the date. We still haven't done anything to celebrate. We just haven't really had any down time for it. Hopefully, we'll get around to doing something eventually.

We did actually manage to celebrate my birthday back in May. Mary and David came and watched Delia for a couple of hours while Scott and I went out to eat. We went to Mediterranos, and I managed to find a seafood dish that was safe for me to eat. Scott had forgotten to buy me a birthday present and was going to take me to Wizzywig that night, but I was afraid that it would take too long, and I also pointed out that ordering me something online would be a lot cheaper. A week later, he still hadn't ordered me anything, so he dragged me to Best Buy (he had a coupon). They didn't have anything from my list of Anime I Really Want, but I had reached the point of being utterly frustrated. I just wanted the process to be over.

So I got the first Nadia boxed set (based on having seen the first three episodes and liking them) and the Soul Hunter boxed set (based on it being cheap). Scott and I are slowly watching Nadia and enjoying it. I worked my way through Soul Hunter on my own. It was... frustrating. I found the ending dissatisfying because it seemed to raise several questions and then weasel out of addressing them seriously. Additionally, the story felt like it had a split personality. By the middle of the series, the two pieces had connected in a more or less satisfying way, but... The conflict in style and feel only worked because it symbolized one of the important questions of the series, one of the questions that didn't, in my opinion, get resolved. I was, however, quite impressed by the extras on the DVDs-- Translator's notes, historical notes, character backgrounds (including a detailed relationship tree).
