I'm not entirely sure where August went. I meant to write several times but always got distracted or was too tired or... something. So I missed the chance to write about Delia's first skinned knee (acquired when she tripped walking in the driveway. She didn't even notice), walking on the Diag with Delia on the way to my dental appointment, Scott signing us up for Netflix (and all the stuff I've watched as a result), [livejournal.com profile] adrian_turtle's visit, the neighborhood potluck, Labor Day with Scott's family and many other things I can't think of specifically right now. Maybe later, I'll have time to go back and talk about those events, but right now, I'm kind of pressed for time, so I'll settle for talking about more recent events.

I've had a nasty cold for the last 9-10 days. I'm not sure if I caught it from [livejournal.com profile] lunargeography or if I caught it from one of the kids at the big playgroup Delia and I went to at the public library a couple of days before I started feeling bad. Either seems quite possible. It's been a while since I had a cold that tried to get into my lungs, so I hadn't checked on my asthma inhaler in a while, not since the winter while I was pregnant. That proved unfortunate-- On Monday, I realized that I needed to start using the inhaler (asthmatic bronchitis is not an experience I ever want to repeat and discovered that I could hardly get anything at all out of the inhaler I pulled out of my purse. The expiration date on that was August of 2001.

Scott took Tuesday off so that he could look after Delia while I went to the doctor. It's a very good thing that he did because I was barely able to move. He encouraged me to try to sleep that afternoon, but I couldn't. Sleep was in rather short supply all week. Delia got the edges of the cold, I think, at roughly the same time that she was teething again (she now has her canines! All four of them!) and spent two nights with a fever, waking every couple of hours.

Because he'd called in on Tuesday, Scott ended up working Saturday (nobody else volunteered, and he had the fewest hours for the week). That meant that we weren't able to play his GURPS Traveller game. [livejournal.com profile] booniverse and her husband came over anyway for a bit of visiting, which I appreciated greatly (Paul stayed home. He's doing student teaching now, and he said that the student germs had finally caught up with him). We talked of gaming and cooking and Stargate: Atlantis.
