Still no word on when we can expect to get power back. I'm very afraid it will be days. I did leave a note for the cleaning lady, asking her to call me if the power's back on, so I'm hoping, rather desperately, that she'll call at 2:30 (that being when she normally arrives). When Delia and I went for lunch, we ate at a diner. There were three other ladies sitting nearby (two different tables). They were all also without power.

Scott doesn't have to work late today or tomorrow, but he does have to go in early tomorrow. This still leaves going up to his folks' place as problematic. It's better than a hotel because Delia and I could stay all day without paying for a second night. It also has the advantage that I could take the laundry and wash it so that I can still pack clean clothes for the trip.

Unfortunately, Scott can't spend the night with his folks and still expect to get to work in a reasonable length of time. I don't know.

I am so so sorry. We only just got ours back yesterday. We've been out since Friday. We use points and stayed in a hotel for 3 nights and with vacated family a 4th night. Take the laptop, your child, pack a bag, and go. This heat is dangerous and makes us all miserable and forget about things like exercise, diet, and limits on kids' screen time. TAKE WHATEVER YOU CAN.

One suggestion -- in our area, it is possible to report online and you get attention faster if there are lots of outages in your area. So, I reported my neighbors' outages by using white pages and finding other homes, phone numbers, and addresses. Also, be sure to keep telling them that you are out -- again our company came to believe that we were restored when we weren't. If you have medical equipment in the home, that can sometimes result in quicker service. Also, don't open your fridge or freezer.

Regrettably, I'm a pro at these things now.

Yikes. I wish there was some way I could help! Hang in there, OK?
