the_rckOur power is back on. It finally occurred to me, about 4:30, to try calling home to see if the answering machine picked up. It did, so Delia and I headed home. According to our neighbor, power came back on about 1:45, so I'm not sure why our cleaning lady didn't call me. Maybe she wasn't comfortable doing it (English is not her first language). Maybe she didn't realize the power was on. I don't know.
Scott had been going a little crazy trying to reach me. My cell phone occasionally turns itself off, and it did that some time after three (I used it at three to call DTE which told me that power would be restored tomorrow after 9:30 p.m.). Scott assumed that, when I said 'the library,' I meant the branch we usually go to, so he went there, looking for us. We'd gone downtown instead because that's easier by bus. Well, getting there is about the same for the two locations. It's the getting home that's simpler from downtown (the downtown library is right across the street from the central bus station. I know exactly when the buses will be there, and there's an air conditioned lobby for waiting).
