Jun. 28th, 2007 09:36 amIf anybody's been looking for me or has posted something that I really ought to see, it's probably a good idea to e-mail me to let me know.
Delia's still sick, and we have no power at home. I'm typing this from the Holiday Inn where we spent the second half of last night. I'd argued to go earlier. As of 6 p.m. last night, the estimate for getting power back was 10 p.m. When we checked at 10, the automated system didn't have any record of our power problem. When we called at 2 a.m., the new estimate was 4 p.m. today. That's when we packed up and left. Delia's fever was high. Scott can't sleep without his c-pap. We were all miserable.
Of course, now Delia and I are stuck at the Holiday Inn. I have to decide soon whether or not we're staying another night and hope, if we do want to stay, that we can stay in this room.
cherydactyl is on her way over to take us to Delia's doctor.
Delia's currently huddled on the floor, wrapped in blankets. She's refusing to eat and will only drink a little bit at a time (and that only when I insist). Her fever has decreased from last night (when I had to use both children's Tylenol *and* children's Motrin to get it to 100 and a bath to get it any lower than that), but she's cranky, has chills and has a tummyache. She doesn't like the hotel room and wants to go home. She also had a near break down in the restaurant-- She insisted that it smelled bad.
I got her food (yogurt and fruit) to go, and that's been my breakfast. It's not ideal (I tend to need protein in the mornings but can't handle ham, bacon, sausage or eggs), but it's food, and it won't make me sick the way the other stuff on the menu would.
Today being Thursday, Scott will be at work (after work meeting) until 4:30 or 5:00. I really hate Thursdays under normal circumstances. Under these circumstances... Well.

Date: 2007-06-28 03:30 pm (UTC)The diagnosis is hand, foot and mouth, so she should be getting better tomorrow. It's normally a four day illness.

Date: 2007-06-28 03:32 pm (UTC)Delia has hand, foot and mouth. She probably picked it up either at nature center camp or at the first day of vacation bible camp. The illness usually takes four days to run it's course (and is hugely contagious for kids), so she should be better tomorrow.
A call would be appreciated.

Date: 2007-06-28 03:53 pm (UTC)I read in some of the comments that she should feel better soon.
I sure hope so.
You must be exhausted as well.
Hope you're able to go home soon and both you and Delia can get some 'quality' rest!

Date: 2007-06-29 03:58 pm (UTC)We're home now, thank goodness. I think Delia rested better at the hotel because there was less to do, but we're working on that.
I'm just reaching the point where I would trade my books for a few days away from home without my family. I love them dearly, but... I'm tired.

Date: 2007-06-29 03:55 pm (UTC)Things should improve. We're back home, at least. Delia's still sick, but kids do get sick, and we've got good doctors and decent insurance (and if things get worse, we have an excellent hospital nearby).
