Aug. 9th, 2012 09:19 amScott had both days off last weekend. That made a pleasant change. We were able to relax and go to the cookout that
booniverse and her husband were hosting. That's an annual event, and we go when we can. I think the only year we missed was when I had my gall bladder taken out the week before.
This week, Delia's at science center camp. That means getting up early and being organized-- making lunches, putting on sunscreen and bug spray, that sort of thing. It also means walking quite a bit. There are two big hills on the way to camp. We're at the top of one, and the camp's on the top of the other. My legs always start hating me by about Wednesday of camp weeks. I'm pretty sure it's the hills rather than the amount of walking. I need to find out how old kids have to be to sign themselves out of camp and walk home. Personally, I think ten (which she'll be next year) is old enough, but the camp may not consider any age old enough.
Tuesday was our primary election. I wasn't as well educated about the candidates as I wanted to be. Good sources of local news are hard to find, and I don't trust the stuff candidates send around. For that matter, not all the candidates did send stuff around-- I'd never heard of either candidate for county commissioner.
Scott had to go in early on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday, he got there, and they sent him home for a few hours (they sent him home a bit after three. It's a half hour home, and he has to be up at 5:20 for his regular shift). It's entirely possible that they'll keep him late tonight. Second shift is still down several people, and someone on second shift is on vacation. He'll most likely be working Sunday this weekend. He has to work one day or the other, and other people have already taken all the Saturday slots. Nobody wants to work Sundays.
I've made a little progress on my writing. I edited to add some physical description that was needed for two new characters. Now I just have to bite the bullet and write the missing scene to finish the chapter. I can do this. I really can.
